What is the difference between pre-menopause and peri-menopause?

Pre-menopause is a phase that starts from the time a woman has her first period to her last one. No premenopause symptoms are experienced. Whereas, peri-menopause is a stage before menopause which is marked by the decline in the production of female hormones and the onset of peri-menopause symptoms.
